Transit Receives $15,000 Grant from the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA)
OAKLAND—Transit Books has been approved for a $15,000 grant from the National Endowment from the Arts to support its work in 2023.
"We're grateful for the NEA's continued support,” said Adam Levy, Executive Director of Transit Books. “Arts funding at this level is critical for presses like ours and our work. This year's project includes first-time translations of new and classic works from France, East Germany, and Turkey, and we can't wait to share them with readers."
“The National Endowment for the Arts is proud to support arts projects in communities nationwide,” said NEA Chair Maria Rosario Jackson, PhD. “Projects such as this one with Transit Books strengthen arts and cultural ecosystems, provide equitable opportunities for arts participation and practice, and contribute to the health of our communities and our economy.”
Transit’s project is among 1,251 projects across America totaling nearly $28.8 million that were selected during this first round of fiscal year 2023 funding in the Grants for Arts Projects funding category.
