Transit Receives $20,000 Grant from the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA)
OAKLAND—Transit Books has been approved for a $20,000 grant to support the publication and promotion of books of fiction and nonfiction, including works in translation, that represent a diversity of languages, perspectives, and literary approaches of the highest artistic quality.
“We’re incredibly grateful to receive a grant from the NEA,” said Adam Levy, Executive Director of Transit Books. “This is our second year of support, and it’s hard to overstate the impact sustained arts funding can have on organizations like ours. It truly makes our work possible.”
Transit’s project is among 1,073 projects across America totaling nearly $25 million that were selected during this first round of fiscal year 2021 funding in the Grants for Arts Projects funding category.
“The National Endowment for the Arts is proud to support this project from Transit Books,” said Arts Endowment Acting Chairman Ann Eilers. “Transit is among the arts organizations across the country that have demonstrated creativity, excellence, and resilience during this very challenging year.”
