Transit Books is a nonprofit publisher of international and American literature, based in the San Francisco Bay Area. Founded in 2015, Transit Books is committed to the discovery and promotion of enduring works that carry readers across borders and communities.
Transit Books publishes a carefully curated list of award-winning literary fiction, narrative nonfiction, essay, and literature for children. Transit authors have been nominated for the National Book Award, the National Book Critics Circle Award, the International Booker Prize, the PEN Translation Prize, the National Translation Award, the Windham-Campbell Prize, and more.
For our 2023 reading period, we are only considering translations from South Asian, Southeast Asian, and East Asian languages. We are not considering English-language fiction. Please review our submission guidelines and submit using the link below.

For translated works, please provide:
Sample translation of at least 20 pages (or full manuscript, if available)
Short biography of the author
Summary of the book
List of previous works you’ve translated
A PDF of the original language edition
Availability of rights, if known
We do not currently accept poetry submissions.
Please note that we are not considering Undelivered Lectures proposals for the 2023 reading period.
